Archaeology
Cave di Cusa
This is about the excavation of stone in ancient times from the quarries at Cave di Cusa.
Successivamente, con l’aiuto di leve, il blocco veniva sollevato e, rotolando, trasportato nel luogo in cui veniva realizzata una prima sbozzatura. Alla fine si procedeva con il trasporto che avveniva generalmente con carri trainati da buoi.
In previous Proz questions I have found "pre-forging", but I cannot see how that would be correct here. Or would it?

I'd say it can be used as a noun if you don't want to change the sentence structure to a verb. See on Google "the rough-hewing of the marble"

Note from asker:
Hello, I cannot find any uses of this as a noun, "in cui veniva realizzata una prima sbozzatura." - do you have any ideas? |
Did you mean like this? to transport it to the place where it would be rough-hewn . |
