Comment: "thanks to all of you for your help! I'd go with Simon's option because it fits better the style of my text, although I realize that all your answers are correct. I wish I could split points... ;)"

full utilization/maxing out of their line of credit and frequent over the limit overdrafts
overdrafts are "debordi" (going overboard, going over the limit)
This company has an "overdraft protection line of credit" but it "maxes it out" as well as frequently exceeding its overdraft credit limit

.. and frequently exceeding the authorised amount.
That is the meaning. You could probably rearrange the whole sentence to get something more elegant for "debordi" which is not a technical term like fido for example and just means overflowing, exceeding.
utilizzi pieni del fido in conto corrente con ricorrenti debordi

Since "sconfinamento su conto corrente" is another way of saying exacty the same thing, it is much better in English to say*exactly the same thing* in English. Using other words in English might make the reader thing it was something else, which it isn't. You can use "exceeding the limit" as a noun of "exceeding the overdraft". It needs and object.

Note from asker:
thanks Jim - however I already used "current account overdraft" in the same text as a translation for "sconfinamento su conto corrente", so maybe I'd better use "credit limit" here. And btw, can I use "exceeding" as a noun? |
