Italian term

al netto dell’effetto positivo di imposte

Italian to English Bus/Financial Finance (general)
Can anybody tell me how we say this in English? I can't find the words.

"una perdita lorda di -X migliaia di Euro (-X migliaia di Euro al netto dell’effetto positivo netto di imposte)"

Many thanks!

OK, many thanks for all your help Jim.
James (Jim) Davis Nov 9, 2011:
Then somewhere you should have "imposte di +919 migliaia" and you were right to assume the second "netto" in the text was an errro.
Sarah Weston (asker) Nov 9, 2011:
That is to say, this is the original sentence.
Sarah Weston (asker) Nov 9, 2011:
Hi Jim, Sorry I'm a bit lost, this is the correct sentence "una perdita lorda di -3.601 migliaia di Euro (-2.683 migliaia di Euro al netto dell’effetto positivo netto di imposte)" if that helps.
James (Jim) Davis Nov 9, 2011:
@Sarah What do the figures tell you? If we change this
"una perdita lorda di -X migliaia di Euro (-X migliaia di Euro al netto dell’effetto positivo netto di imposte)" into this
"una perdita lorda di -X migliaia di Euro (-y migliaia di Euro al netto dell’effetto positivo netto di imposte)" and we assume that somewhere very near we have "imposte di +z migliaia di Euro" to simplify and reverse the signs, does x - z = y? as in a loss of -200 plus a tax refund of +50 gives a net loss of -150?
Sarah Weston (asker) Nov 9, 2011:
The original text is as you see in the text below, but I assumed it was an error and corrected in the header - sorry for the confusion.
James (Jim) Davis Nov 9, 2011:
@Phil It has to be the question header PHil. This is the standard phrasing:
https://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=&q=al nett...
philgoddard Nov 9, 2011:
Your text is different to your question header - it has an extra "netto". Which is correct?

net of tax income

Basically in English tax recognised in the income statement is either an expense or income according to IAS 12:

http://www.iasplus.com/standard/ias12.htm
Recognition of Tax Expense or Income

Current and deferred tax should be recognised as income or expense and included in profit or loss for the period, except to the extent that the tax arises from: [IAS 12.58]

net of the net positive effect of taxes

net of the net positive effect of taxes

The net positive effect of taxes could be the result of the sum current tax credits and/or deferred tax assets that exceeds the sum of current tax liabilities and/or deferred tax liabilities.

agree philgoddard : "Net of the net" looks funny. You could say "after the net".
