entry fees

A bank will act as a broker to sell shares in investment funds to its customers. The investment fund manager pays a commission or fee back to the bank, which is the "retrocessione". In the US and UK these fees are simply termed "entry fees" because you only pay them when you first buy the shares in the fund. Often by buying wholesale or direct from the fund manager you can avoid paying these fees "no entry fee".

Peer comment(s):

disagree John Moore : The "entry fee" is a fee paid once by investors when they buy units in the fund. The "retrocessione" is the share of broking commission "paid back" by the fund to the broker who sells shares to the fund. A better translation would be "commission split".

commission splits

Also known as ' commission-sharing agreements', royalty splits in the UK & US music trade, or disguised 'kickbacks'.
Example sentence:

Will I have to approach each of the brokers I deal with and agree a separate percentage split with them in respect of "execution" and "research" received from them, or can I rely on each broker publishing their standard split (by currency etc) and issuing

Peer comment(s):

agree John Moore : "commission split" is the correct transalation of "retrocessione" in Italian or "retrocession" in French.
