This is a machine wich can score and cut glass, plastics or ceramics without causing ragged edges. See the link below.
It is a table based tool, as opposed to a slitter which is used to cut rolls of material such as rubber, plastics etc.
Although sfilettare is more along "slitter", I think it would be a false friend in English since we are talking about different origin material configurations.
One starts out flat, the other is in roll form. Here's a link for a slitter so you can see the difference in the machine configuration

Just to be positive about it, I would check to see if any part of the text refers to the material being fed into the machine ..is it in rolls (slitter) or is it flat (cutter)
