a tak w ogóle... to trzeba zdyscyplinować Lady Asker :-) ...
bo najczęściej mówimy "wstrętna gęba", a nie - "krzywa gęba";
"krzywa gęba" jest tak bardzo wulgarnym, małym i tandetnym przekazem (nie boję się też powiedzieć - zwyrodniałym);
"wstrętna gęba" jest dosadnym określeniem, ale nie tak podłym...

A, Bolko by Matejko ma wąsy i zupełnie nieźle wygląda... co Panie o tym sądzą ? :)

Wry Face Somehow it is hard to imagine somebody saying that during an argument. It sounds awkward and artificial. Literal translations don't always work well.
Darius Saczuk Jul 21, 2013:
Only the speaker knows what his/her real intent was.We would need more context to suggest an exact equivalent. "Fucking ugly face" may not be a precise equivalent, but at least it is a language chunk frequently used in arguments. If krzywa twarz does indeed imply complaining (we do NOT know that), I'd say, "I'm fucking sick and tired of your constant kvetching/bitching."
'Ugly ass face' could work as a metaphor. The expression would not always be used to confer an aesthetical judgement.

I disagree with 'angry face', but I agree with the general sense of: 'sour, unhappy face, constantly complaining.'

The goal here is to convey that the addressee's face habitually sports a base expression and is also extremely unpleasant for the speaker to look at.
'Krzywa gęba' is basically similar to a constant vulgar frown. The person graced with the expression is implied to be a frowning boor whose usual facial expression skews it (buckles it).

You *could* use 'krzywa gęba' to describe a face that's simply ugly in a static sense (the opposite of handsome), but the expression implies a certain dynamic connected with facial expression.

angry vs. ugly ;) "angry face" may often picture the ugly face, though boys/men used to say - "YASBWYA" that stands for "you are so beautiful when you are angry" ;)

W USA ugly face słyszy się najczęściej. Można ugly trap, mug tc, ale ugly face to standard.

I can't look at your angry face anymore

It has nothing to do with ugly,but rather with upset and angry,in Polish.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Dawid Mazela, MA, MCIL : I am afraid it does ;) | I love your theory, but this is an idiomatic expression, which I've heard in context quite a few times and it does mean "ugly".
35 mins
No. it doesn't. It just refers to the shape of someone's mouth when being angry.
disagree Darius Saczuk : It is not angry. It means UGLY in Polish.
1 hr
I can't look at your sour, unhappy face, constantly complaining.
agree Łukasz Gos-Furmankiewicz : One would rarely call a pretty face "krzywa gęba", but "krzywa" in that idiomatic expression does mean what Lilian says it does.

agree Jadwiga Wos : It means ugly and angry at the same time. With a swear word xxx it would be all right.

wry face

Perhaps a bit too literally, but this is basically *the* equivalent, considering that 'face' is probably the safest to use here in English.

Alternatively, you could experiment with 'mug', 'satchel', 'bazoo' etc. 'Puke-hole' would probably be too vulgar, though, while 'cake hole' ('pie hole') too light in the context.

If wanted it really literally, you could go for 'constantly wincing pie hole', but IMHO that kind of long, descriptive phrase wouldn't work here. It doesn't convey the colour of the Polish source.

You can also go for a more modern, slangish equivalent of 'odious face', which accurately reflects both the implied expression of the addressee's face and the speaker's feelings towards it (thus odious in both senses).
Peer comment(s):

neutral Beata Claridge : face/mug OK, cala reszta IMO odpada, szczegolnie zestawienie: wry face

zastanawialam sie nad
"crooked face"/ "crooked mug"
przegladnelam inernet - jest nawet kilka wystapien, choc chyba chodzi tam o wykrzywione twarze (doslownie), a tu IMO krzywy to brzydki (ale subiektywnie brzydki - dla osoby mowiacej)
wiec proponuje slowko "hideous" (IMO nawet lepsze niz disgusting) elegancko negatywnie naladowane, ale bez jakiegos bardzo konkretnego znaczenia (bo to ani zly, ani brzydki, ani znieksztalcony)

f* hideous face
