Note from asker:
Thanks. The text refers to airport construction. Research on "baffle" brings up "construction or device which reduces the strength" which makes sense without having to go into more detail. |

crawl space?
Crawl space is traditionally the most misunderstood part of your home. http://www.basementquestions.com/crawlspaces.php
Note from asker:
The text is about airport construction. I dont think crawlspace is a good idea in airports. |
On second thought, they are unavoidable. Looking up the other answer (baffle) I came up with "construction or device which reduces the strength of ..." which sounds like a ventilation area or something resembling a crawl space" |
