You're right. Maybe "bear" doesn't sound correct in english. Just use "have" instead. That's what it's meant in the original text.
Note from asker:
So, the translation would be "although they still bear the feeling of being Moqueguanos" ... this seems a little strange to me, at least as a native speaker...
