Spanish term
la paleta alta
Spanish to English
Art/Literary
Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
This is from a text about a contemporary painter from Argentina. From what I am seeing on the web, it is NOT "high pallete"
Los colores no ironizan, sólo enrarecen, acentuando, la paleta alta y casi infantil, la idea de pureza y beatitud inmaculada que las escenas implican.
Thanks!

Or, in the light of Helena's reference, how about "primary colours"...?

Again, pax Helena, you might want to consider using "hue" instead of colour, if you think it makes a difference. I've always considered "hue" to merely be a more poetic synonym, so it would probably fit better in this sort of 'abstract' puff.

: 'Childlike hues' might be more professional/accurate, though primary colours are definitely bright and cheerful. I always think of Ludo!

paletas altas.

In painting color theory, a hue refers to a pure color—one without tint or shade (added white or black pigment, respectively).

The second part of color theoery deals with color values. Value is the darkness or lightness of a color. When dealing with pure color (hue), value can be affected by adding white or black to a color. Adding white to a color produces a tint...

Hue
Hue defines pure color in terms of "green", "red" or "magenta". Hue also defines mixtures of two pure colors like "red-yellow" (~ "orange"), or "yellow-green" (limitations to this statement will be addressed later).
Hue is usually one property of three when used to determine a certain color.
Hue is a more technical definition of our color perception which can be used to communicate color ideas.
Hue ranges from 0° to 359° when measured in degrees.
Hues are basic colors we learn to connect with words as children.
Hues can refer to the set of "pure" colors within a color space.
