Convivencia y Civismo

Spanish to English Other Education / Pedagogy subjects
Texto fuente:

Me parece que "Coexistence and Civic Mindedness"

quizas se podria traducir "convivencia" como "Community relations" o "Relations with the Community" y el resto "... Mindedness"

... and I found this excerpt Third, most countries implicitly described ***citizenship education*** as going beyond the basic acquisition of knowledge and facts. Four countries (Chile, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Mexico) explicitly discussed citizenship education within three domains: knowledge, dispositions, and skills or abilities and ***Nicaragua “seeks to promote experiences of cognitive, socio-affective and psychomotor student development.”*** The response from St. Lucia also illustrates this theme;” [The goal is]…to foster the intellectual, social, moral, and cultural development of students in a manner which helps them integrate understanding, skills and values…” http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:2tzRKuy... @ Joss The link is not working. Regards.

Convivencia I see the text is from Nicaragua - you can find a description of the curriculum contents here: http://www.slideshare.net/jairoellis/prog-convivencia-civism... section 26 onwards, so you can decide which of the suggestions is more appropriate. A lot of convivencia seems to have to do with the development of personal and interpersonal skills.

Community Studies and Civics

I'm fairly certain "civismo" would be "civics", at least in the US.
For "convivencia" I'd suggest going for something broad like "community studies" that could possibly encompass anything within that curriculum.

Civics is the study of the theoretical and practical aspects of citizenship, its rights and duties; the duties of citizens to each other as members of a political body and to the government.[1][need quotation to verify][2] It includes the study of civil law and civil code, and the study of government with attention to the role of citizens ― as opposed to external factors ― in the operation and oversight of government.

Community studies curricula are often centered on the "concerns" of communities. These include mental and physical health, stress, addiction, AIDS, racism, immigration, ethnicity, gender, identity, sexuality, the environment, crime, deviance, delinquency, family problems, social competence, poverty, homelessness and other psycho-social aspects.
