Spanish term

Bachillerato Tecnico (no. 1)

Spanish to English Other Education / Pedagogy Mexican Transcript
I am translating a Mexican Transcript from Universidad de Colima. The certificate is "Certificado Total" and reads:
"Se seguem constancias que obran en el expediente no. .... del BACHILLERATO TECNICO NO. 1....

In some places I see bachillerato is High School.
In others it can be a Bachelor's Degree.
There are several Proz discussions but everyone has a different opinion.

Have a look at http://www.proz.com/search/ These entries are virtually unanimous in saying it's a high school diploma.

Bachillerato Técnico (Technical High School Diploma) (no. 1)

The Bachillerato in Mexico is definitely most equivalent to the high school leaving diploma in the US, not the bachelor's degree. I'd leave it in Spanish with an explanation in English.

These "technical" high school courses are usually directed at people choosing a "vocational" qualification that leaves them the possibility of continuing with higher education or going into work that requires a certain level of technical proficiency prior to entry.

Thanks! I agree with you. Being issued by an University confused me and I wanted to be sure.

agree neilmac : Similar to the baccalauréat, I imagine, but more technically oriented.

Thanks, Neil, only I don't think swapping one foreign word for another is a good solution here because none of them are actually the same.

This is for Mexico, not UK, so I don't think it fits :)
