This is the name of a specific type of fireworks, used in Honduras and apparently in other parts of central America. I'm looking for the common English equivalent for the USA.

firecrackers?
I am not sure it is the correct term, but I found a site that has an extensive glossary regarding fireworks. Perhaps this will help as you read the terms and the descriptions (maybe you'll find the description that matches the best to your term)
Good luck
