tree grille

Delighted to discover this word in Spanish (and the older meaning of the watering pit around a tree) - the "Moors" in Spain had it just about sewn up as far as wonderful pieces of vocabulary were concerned.

Lots of pictures on both sites.
I´m not putting a higer confidence level, because of course I am not actually answering the question directly - this describe the grille rather than the space. But I fear we may not get any closer.
