Abro esta otra ventana con el único fin de dar más datos adicionales en español acerca de este tipo de papel, corroborando que efectivamente se trata del papel hecho a mano o: "handmade paper" en inglés.

"Papel de tina
Papel fabricado **manualmente** a partir de una solución acuosa de fibras vegetales obtenidas de trapos de algodón, lino, cáñamo o ramio. Hasta el descubrimiento de la máquina continua y la aplicación de celulosa procedente de la madera a comienzos del siglo XIX la de tina fue la única clase de papel conocida. Hoy su fabricación es muy reducida debido, entre otras cosas a la lentitud de un proceso de elaboración completamente artesanal y cuyo método se ha mantenido inalterable durante más de dieciocho siglos. No obstante, el papel de trapo es el de mejor calidad y el más estable al envejecimiento.
Los trapos se ponen a pudrir antes de ser troceados , a continuación se les sumerge en agua limpia y se les golpea en pilas provistas de grandes mazos. La pasta resultante tras la maceración es transportada a tinas o cubas con orificios inferiores de desagüe que permiten una perdida inicial de agua. En la tina se sumerge la forma extrayendo en posición horizontal una cierta cantidad de pasta que mediante sacudidas termina repartiéndose homogéneamente entre las verjuras. Una vez que la pasta adquiere suficiente consistencia, es decir, después de perder gran parte de su saturación de agua, se vuelca la forma sobre unos hayales o fieltros de lana. Cuando se tienen varias hojas superpuestas entre fieltros sucesivos, reciben la presión de una prensa vertical cuya finalidad es la de eliminar todo el agua posible. Como resultado de esta operación y debido también a que el contacto de la retícula verjurada con los listones del marco de la forma no es hermético, los bordes de las hojas presentan unas irregularidades características llamadas barbas. La fase final consiste en el secado de las hojas en tendederos al aire libre. Todos los dibujos y estampas antiguos están soportados en papeles de tina. Su composición no ácida ha garantizado la pervivencia de muchos de ellos en buen estado de conservación. Tan extraordinaria calidad convierte a esta clase de papeles en soportes muy apreciados por los grabadores, estampadores y dibujantes."

"...The finest handmade papers are made from pure rag pulp, usually linen and cotton, which are washed, boiled and beaten to macerate the fibres. These fibres are then suspended in water where they can be lifted out by the papermaker using a mould and deckle. The mould is such an important tool to the papermaker that Hunter devotes an entire chapter (see Bibliography) to describing their development and differences around the world. Essentially, a mould is a screen of some sort, supported by a frame, which allows the surplus water to drain after dipping the fibres from the vat. A deckle is another frame on top of the mould which keeps the fibres from washing over the edges. Since it is a separate piece, some of the thin pulp inevitably flows under the deckle causing the slightly ragged edges known as deckles.

As a result of the demand for books, and paper to print them on, following the invention of the printing press, the supply of good-quality rags began to dry up and papermakers began to search for new papermaking fibres (ironically, the earliest papers were made from tree bark, hemp, and other plant fibres, as well as from fabric trimmings). Shown here is a spread from a book by Jacob Christian Schäffer, published in Amsterdam in 1770, one of a series of six in which he outlined his research into rag substitutes, including the use of moss, a sample of which is also shown (both from the Koninklijke Bibliotheek). ..."
