From a review of a newly published book of poetry:
"Poeta de la memoria, ***al decir de la crítica***, AAA revive lugares y sentimientos con la sangre de las palabras."
I'm not sure of the meaning of this chunk. Is it another way of saying "es decir de la crítica" or "o sea de la crítica"? Or does it mean "según sus críticas"?

"a decir de" = "according to", but, unless this is a typo, I'd guess that that definite article is there to differentiate subtly from the standard translation of "a decir de". But perhaps I'm reading too much into that definite article...?

No, the quote marks are mine. It's not a direct quote. I see what you mean about being careful.
Do we know if these actually are the very words used by the critics, ie, are there quote marks surrounding them?
If not, you'd have to be wary of using words like "to quote" or "in the words of". But, if this is an actual quotation, then there's no problem!
