Asalto al agua transparente

Spanish to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
¡Hola!

A large proportion of film and play titles get changed completely in the translated version. I'm not sure a literal translation works here - I can't imagine it written in lights outside a theater. But if you have to go the literal route, I like Jenni's suggestion the best.
Bubo Coroman (X) Mar 22, 2010:
lorenab23 Mar 22, 2010:
@ Aradai Based on the definition of "storming" (a direct and violent assault on a stronghold) I think you got a winner!
Aradai Pardo Martínez (asker) Mar 22, 2010:
Storming?

Rick Henry Mar 22, 2010:
I don' t know what the rest of the piece is really about, but knowing what I know about Mexican history, I think "assault" is actually a good translation, as the Spanish tried to attack (and failed) on these waterways.

agree Evans (X) : Prefer "assault" in this instance. Keeps it simple, if the title is not changed altogether.

The plundering of pristine waters (see below)

Plundering is synonym of assault that is often used with abuse of natural resources. With just this fragment I have nothing more to go on, but I'm wondering if you could change the "aguas transparentes" to fit the words "lakes" in, as it is such a poetic word in English. Note from asker:

Barbaric attack on limpid waters

it seems "transparente" has a double meaning... of course the waters are unpolluted, but it also sounds really strange to talk about "attacking" something that has no form or colour (transparente); it makes the idea of attacking the waters sound ironic, and hence it is a very effective title I think.

Clear blue water

As I said in the discussion entries, I don't think a literal translation really works here; you need a title that will grab people's attention and make them want to buy tickets for the play. So here's my suggestion, which ignores "asalto".
