(articulated) stern drive
stern drives or colas are the bits at the back of a motorboat where the propellers are. They look like the bottom half of an outboard motor without the engine–which is essentially what they are. If you turn the wheel to starboard, the stern drives turn to port, giving a sideways thrust to the stern and turning the vessels to starboard. some have flaps for adjusting the angle of incidence in different weather and wave conditions. They are moved through hydraulic pressure.
