Spanish term

numero de unidades ro-ro..

Spanish to English Other Ships, Sailing, Maritime
Taken from a Venezuelan import/export document. It is part of the title of a column on a table of statistics. Full title of column is: "Numero de unidades ro-ro con o sin autopropulsion".

I cannot find anything in for "ro-ro". Thank You!

Sorry, I meant to include a brief extract form the referenced Wikipedia page:

"Roll-on/roll-off (RORO or ro-ro) ships are vessels designed to carry wheeled cargo, such as automobiles, trucks, semi-trailer trucks, trailers, and railroad cars, that are driven on and off the ship on their own wheels. This is in contrast to lift-on/lift-off (LOLO) vessels, which use a crane to load and unload cargo."

'Number of ro-ro vessels' would, of course, be equally valid or maybe even more so, given that the source text uses 'ro-ro'. I imagine the acronym is used much more in Spanish than the full term so I suppose it depends on which one is more common in English.
Note from asker:
Ahhh, thank you so much Snathdag for that and the prompt response, I know nothing about shipping!!

amount of (or quantity of) ro-ro units

one option

The original text is saying "...unidades ro-ro con o sin autopropulsion", then it is not talking about the ro-ro vessels but about the ro-ro units (trailers, trucks, buses, cars, mafi's,etc) that are shipped inside the ro-ro vessels.

Definition of Standard Ro-Ro unit

There are many containers being handled on cassettes, mafis etc as roll on/roll off units. A ro-ro-unit can vary a lot in size, weight, shape, and volume.

agree snathdag : Yes, thanks for the correction - I should've done a bit more research. I think 'number' sounds more natural although 'amount' is fine.
