Swedish term

självkostnadsavgift

Swedish to English Bus/Financial Economics
Hello

This word is all over the Internet and it's some type of additional charge/fee when you don't use a facility/service that is offered but provide the facility/service yourself. So it turns up in all sorts of places and situations

In my translation, it happens to be applied if you don't use the campsite's bed linen and Arctic sleeping bags.

Does anyone have an idea what it could be in English though?

@ all I went with Agneta's suggestion although it's hard for me to get my head around any of the translations as it's not "cost price" in the usual sense of the word.
So thanks to everyone for pointing me in the right directrion
Christopher Schröder Mar 11, 2022:
You make it sound like corkage but it’s generally just an additional charge or contribution
Charlotte Englund Mar 11, 2022:
Hello! Self cost fee? Usually in Swedish when this is used, its to highlight anything that we have to pay for ourselves.

@ Deane and all Hello Deane

I thought you might like this question as I posted it. The context is as I have given it. I don't want to post even one complete sentence of the document as this agency prohibits translators from using Proz so if they do spot my post, at least they can't say that anyone was able to identify their end-client, which I suppose is the real issue
Deane Goltermann Mar 11, 2022:
Is there any context? A list item or in a sentence?

at cost charge

"Till självkostnad" is the usual expression when English would say "at cost". In the context of a camp site charging for bedding not required "självkostnad" is a bit of a misnomer, but the general vibe would be that it is a modest fee.

agree Adrian MM. : I was going to post at-cost levy https://sv.bab.la/lexikon/engelsk-svensk/cost-levy //Takk, Agneta, but mine is too close to your idea.

cost-plus charge

In most contracts I've dealt with självkostnad is used in a 'cost-plus' contexts. These are public contracts, construction contracts, and similar. So I can't tell if this is too formal for your context. Then again, is sounds cool and should impress any private users of your facility/service.

I have not seen 'self-cost' except in situations where it seems like a poor translation.

You could also call this a 'cost-plus service charge'
