Autobiography: Şu dağın ardı İran – Meltem Vural
Greetings,
Here's the full sentence, along with some immediately preceding and following material:
... Seyit Hoca ise ‘Allahu ekber’ diye mırıldanarak tekbir getiriyordu. Alkış yerine tekbir getirmek, İran İslam Cumhuriyeti’nin en belirgin kurallarından biriydi.
Gece boyunca yenen yemekler ve edilen sohbetlerle Yusuf ile Vida muratlarına eriyorlardı. Etrafa bakınca neşeli bir düğünde miyim, sessiz bir cenazede miyim, anlamak zordu.
Here we have an Iranian couple (Yusuf ile Vida) getting married just as the restrictions of the current regime are really beginning to “bite”. But what can this “muratlarına eriyorlardı” refer to? Obviously consummation of the marriage comes to mind, but hardly in front of guests! Or does it refer to the time for consummation approaching?
I don't think there can be anything offensive about this, but just in case I'll mark it accordingly.
All the best, and many thanks,
Simon

I noticed that it is plural, "muratlar" rather than "murat", so the translation should be plural as well, "were reaching their goals".
