I do not make any conscious effort to indisciminately favor a particular company or type of product. And, believe me, in my close on 30 years of translating solely for industry, I have translated lots of products for lots of Japanese manufacturers.
If a company or product is worthy of my attention or respect, they will get it.
And because of the translation done, I usually become a better informed customer.
If I consider the product interesting, I might also consider using it, but on the other hand I've seen a myriad of products safely hidden behind a veil of meaningless words and felt forewarned against ever touching them.
