English to Spanish: Bilingual Psycho-educational Evaluation General field: Social Sciences
Source text - English Behavioral Observations:
Xxxxxxx is a friendly six-year, eleven-month-old female who appears her stated
age. She is of about average height and weight. Xxxxxxx was well-groomed and
appropriately dressed. She willingly accompanied the examiner into the testing room.
Rapport was easily established and maintained throughout the evaluation. Xxxxxxx
initiated conversation with the examiner. She appeared eager to begin the evaluation.
During the beginning of the testing session, Xxxxxxx demonstrated a good attention span.
As the session progressed, she became increasingly restless and distracted. For example,
Xxxxxxx played with the testing material and initiated conversation unrelated to the
testing. She was impulsive in answering questions. Nevertheless, Xxxxxxx was
responsive and completed the tasks at hand. She appeared to have some difficulty with
receptive language in both languages. Overall, Xxxxxxx related well to the examiner and
appeared to enjoy the individual attention. She did not demonstrate any obvious signs of
anxiety, frustration, or low energy.
Background Information:
Xxxxxxx is a six-year, eleven-month-old bilingual female who is currently
attending a Ist grade monolingual classroom at P.S. XXX. The classroom teacher reported
that she is below grade level in reading, writing, and math. She indicated that Xxxxxxx
continues experiencing academic difficulty although she receives individual attention.
The teacher also describes Xxxxxxx as nervous and distractible. Xxxxxxx appears to relatewell to her teacher and peers.
Language Dominance:
Xxxxxxx is a bilingual child who speaks English and Spanish. Her language skills
and academic skills appear to better developed in English than in Spanish. The
evaluation was primarily conducted in English with translations in Spanish for the testing
of limits. The translations were beneficial to her performance on two items. Xxxxxxx
responded in English throughout the evaluation.
Discussion of Evaluation Results:
Cognitive Functioning: . . . .
Consistent with the chancellor's regulations for Limited English Proficient
students', results are presented in a descriptive, qualitative manner and should be
interpreted with caution because of the absence of appropriate local norms and deviations
from standard procedures to accommodate bilingual issues.
Xxxxxxx was administered the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of
Intelligence-Third Edition (WPPSI-llI), which assesses cognitive functioning. She
earned a Full Scale IQ score which falls within the low average range of overall cognitive
functioning. The WPPSI-ID Full Scale is comprised of the Verbal Scale, Performance
Scale, and Processing Speed Scale.
The Verbal Scale of the WPPSI-III assesses acquired knowledge and verbal
reasoning. Xxxxxxx's performance falls within the low average range. She demonstrated
low average scores on verbal comprehension, word knowledge, and general fund of
knowledge.
The Performance (nonverbal) Scale of the WPPSI-III assesses spatial processing
and visual-motor skills. Xxxxxxx's performance falls within the low average range. On
categorical reasoning, abstract reasoning skills, attention to visual detail, visual-motor
coordinatio1l, she revealed low average scores.
Xxxxxxx's Processing Speed ranged from high average to low average. On short term
visual memory and graphomotor speed, she demonstrated a strength (high average).
She revealed a low average score on visual discrimination.

externes, que poden induir lesions tissulars i malalties. Gell i Coombs varen dividir
Translation - English 1.1 Hypersensitive Reactions
The function of the immune system is to respond to foreign substances by eliminating them quickly and efficiently. Normally this process takes place in an orderly manner, triggering a well-controlled defensive inflammatory response which will culminate with the elimination of the antigen and the reduction of the inflammation.
On occasion, there will be a dysfunction in the regulation of these processes, which may provoke the advent of an illness. Hypersensitive reactions are inappropriate or exaggerated responses by the immune system when faced with internal or external substances which may cause tissue damage or illness. Gell and Coombs differentiated four distinct types of hypersensitive reaction, according to the pathogenic mechanisms involved. Later, other authors described other, mixed mechanisms. Even if the Gell-Coombs classification is useful for didactic reasons, with the advance of knowledge in the immunological field of later years, it can be stated objectively that such a simple division is not possible, due to an important connection between different types of cells and their responses. According to this classical classification, there are four basic types of lesion mechanism in hypersensitive reactions related to distinct pathological entities, which are listed in Table 1.
