Source text - English Related Calculations: In this example, the braking torque was obtained by
connecting a dc source to one phase of the motor after it is disconnected from the lines (Fig. 4a). With solid-state electronics, the problem of a separate dc source has been solved economically. The braking torque is low at the higher initial speed and increases to a high peak value as the motor decelerates; however, it drops rapidly to zero speed (Fig. 4b). The losses are approximately the same as that for a single start. Higher braking torque can be obtained by using higher values of dc voltage and by inserting external resistance in the rotor circuit for a wound-rotor motor.
Approximately 150 percent rated current (dc) is required to produce an average
braking torque of 100 percent starting torque.

Para a obtenção de um binário de frenagem médio igual a 100% do binário de arranque, é necessário uma corrente contínua com uma intensidade igual a 150% da intensidade nominal.
