I translate from English into German mostly, but since my English is about as good as that of a native speaker, I also translate into English. For those jobs I cooperate with a native Canadian translator for proofreading.

I am a native German speaker who spent a year of his childhood in the US, attending a preschool. My English is near-native.
I studied German law at the University of Marburg. After graduating (grade average of 8.5), I found that I enjoyed translating much more than working as a jurist and so I got certified as a translator (staatlich geprüfter Übersetzer) in Northrine-Westfalia. I have been working as a freelancer for about 10 years now. During this time, I also studied translating at the Sprachen- und Dolmetscherinstitut in Munich. I graduated in June 2007 as a certified translator in Bavaria as one of the best of my class (grade average of 1.8). In November 2008, I got my B.A. (1.7) from the same institution.
I translate mostly documents dealing with legal and financial topics.
