If there are any other topics you want to discuss, please let me know. My proposal was merely intended as a "Denkanstoß", and most of us have probably have had dealings (maybe good and maybe not so wonderful ones) with some CAT-Tool or another and can talk about your experiences with it. Or maybe you don't have any experience with CAT-Tools and have questions about using them. I haven't booked any space yet -- obviously that will depend on the size of the group. Powwows are open to family members and friends, insofar as they are interested in coming.
I only moved to southern Germany last year after many years in Südhessen, and then Hamburg prior to that, so I'm really looking forward to this powwow! Best, El (Woodstock)
Added in edit: P.S. In the original invitation I wrote that the Amadeus served brunch on Saturdays, which turned out not to be the case - only late breakfasts. This just to clarify any confusion about the content of the post.

Jerzy, I'm very pleased to see that you registered because I know of your broad knowledge regarding CAT-Tools, and that you will have a lot of valuable information to share about them. I have taken a TRADOS course with you in the past (at the ProZ conference in Budapest in 2007), and learned an awful lot. Do you have anyone to stay with? If not, maybe someone who's attending could put you up if it's too much to drive/travel both ways in one day. I could put you up myself, but I live a good hour'... If not, maybe someone who's attending could put you up if it's too much to drive/travel both ways in one day. I could put you up myself, but I live a good hour's distance south of Stuttgart, which would be the wrong direction for you. Another idea would be to bring along another person or translator from your area or along the way to share driving duties if you are coming by car. Please let me know your status a few days in advance of the powwow. I really don't want anything to stand in the way of your attendance!
Cheers. ▲ Collapse | | | Michael Harris Germany Local time: 00:50 Member (2006) German to English Do we have to bring | Oct 6, 2011 |

but it might be a good idea for several people to bring laptops if they have CAT-Tools on them. I'm bringing mine because I use both SDL Trados and Wordfast, plus I just bought MemoQ (though I haven't done anything with it yet), and I thought it would be a good idea for people who aren't familiar with one or the other (or any) to see what they look like and perhaps get an impression of what they do. So if you want to bring your laptop for that or any other reason, that's fine. There will be too many attending to fit them all around one laptop to look at the software, in any case. At least I hope so.
P.S. I've reserved seating for 15 people (using "Übersetzer-Treff" as the reservation name), but was only able to get the reservation from 1 - 4 p.m. because of a large party arriving then, so the earlier you get there, the better. I don't think it will matter if a few extra people show up, but after 4 it would not be possible. If some would like to continue the discussion after that, we can always go some place else nearby, if it turns out we have to leave, but if only a few want to remain, it would probably be possible just to stay there. ▲ Collapse | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Powwow: Stuttgart - Germany CafeTran Espresso | You've never met a CAT tool this clever!
