Brazilian-born, I lived in Africa for 15 years, and learned to read and write in English as a first language. Since I love reading, I read the literature classics in Portuguese and English, and started learning Spanish when I was a teenager. I attended the University of the Witwatersrand, in Johannesburg, South Africa, where I graduated in Chemistry (BSc). I worked as a chemist for a South African company and then decided that I could more using my knowledge of Portuguese, Spanish and English so I became a SATOUR registered tourist guide, travelling all over South Africa; I later worked as a translator/interpreter for ONUMOZ, the United Nations Operations in Mozambique. On my return to Brazil, in 1997, I worked as a bilingual and trilingual secretary, then as an English teacher for one the country's best English language schools (where I became a Unit Manager) and finally as a freelance translator.

I have worked as a part-time and/or freelance translator since 1992, when I acted for ONUMOZ, and have translated several types of texts, especially scientific articles and abstracts, technical manuals, travel leaflets and guides, data information sheets, engineering texts, etc. I have excellent knowledge of chemistry, physics, biology, nutrition, medicine and very good knowledge of sociology, anthropology and the social sciences.

Punctuality and quality are the guidelines I have followed throughout the years, which have enabled me to have work consistently, and have led to work I have translated being published in journals and books.
