Source text - Spanish Colgamos como arañas diminutas de los muros de los extraños que nos conocen mejor que el vecino, esperamos pulgares arriba como gladiadores asustados sobre la arena hirviente de la noche. Soñamos sus casas sin nuestras fotos o mascotas, desnudos de esas ropas que nos han convertido en un código de barra; nos sentimos felices de ser una familia que gobierna el desamparo, la suerte de la olla, el posteo infantil de un solitario que ha perdido a su perrito o la guitarra.
Compartimos atentos el dolor ingrávido de la defensora de mariposas de Rangoon o la felicidad de migas de esa foto donde otra mujer que no, firma su amor inclinada sobre las aguas del papel.
Nunca estuvimos más solos que ahora que nos sobra la compañía. Ahora que los amigos aumentan por minuto como una pandemia de la que solo nos enteramos a ciertas horas de la tarde o de la noche, cuando nuestros ojos titilan con temor y nuestros dedos buscan sin descanso en la piel líquida de la pantalla.
Nunca estuvimos más solos, ni tuvimos más secretos que ahora que decimos cada palabra que se nos atraviesa como un perro en la ruta.

Translation - English We hang like tiny spiders from strangers’ walls, strangers who know us better than our next door neighbour. We wait impatiently for thumbs-up like fearful gladiators on the burning arena of the night. We dream of strangers’ houses without our photographs or pets, naked from those clothes that have turned us into a bar code. We feel happy to be part of a family whose domain is despair, the pot luck, childish posts from someone lonely who lost a puppy or his guitar.
We watchfully share the fleeting bite-size pain of the campaigner for the butterflies from Rangoon or the crumbs of happiness from that photo, where another woman who doesn’t, signs her love leaning over the waters of paper.
We never were more alone than now that we are overwhelmed by so much company. Now that our friends multiply by the minute, like a pandemic that we only discover at certain times in the afternoon or the night, when our eyes flutter with apprehension and our restless fingers search on the liquid skin of the screen.

Source text - English If so, perhaps the approach to the second suitor to the mystery of the universe will ultimately be a more fruitful and appropriate strategy than one that presumes the universe’s fundamentally meaningless and purposeless nature as the very starting point of legitimate knowledge. Let us recall those remarkable words of Sir James Frazer a century ago at the end of his twelve-volume magnum opus, The Golden Bough:
In the last analysis magic, religion, and science are nothing but theories of thought; and as science has supplanted its predecessors, so it may hereafter be itself superseded by some more perfect hypothesis…
Brighter stars will rise on some voyager of the future -some great Ullyses of the realms of thought -than shine on us. The dreams of magic may one day be the waking realities of science.
Yet perhaps those stars will have been there all along hidden by the bright dawn of our modernity. And our Ulysses will be but awakening to a very ancient cosmos whose vast intelligence, beauty, and mystery we have been slowly preparing ourselves to know.
We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time
Translation - Spanish Si este es el caso, tal vez la segunda estrategia a los misterios del universo será en última instancia un planteamiento más fecundo y apropiado que aquel que asume que la naturaleza fundamentalmente vacía y sin sentido del universo es el punto de partida del conocimiento verdadero. Recordemos aquellas extraordinarias palabras que Sir James Frazer escribió hace un siglo al final de los doce volúmenes de su magnum opus, La Rama Dorada:

Habrá estrellas más brillantes guiando viajes futuros que las que brillan sobre nosotros (algún gran Ulises navegante de los reinos del pensamiento). Los sueños de lo mágico pueden un día ser las realidades despertadoras de la ciencia.
Sin embargo tal vez esas estrellas han estado ahí todo el tiempo, escondidas bajo el amanecer de la modernidad. Y nuestro Ulises estará apenas levantándose a un cosmos muy antiguo para el que apenas nos estamos preparando lentamente
No hemos de renunciar la búsqueda
Y al final de todas nuestras búsquedas
Hemos de llegar a donde empezamos
Y por primera vez comprenderemos dónde estamos
