Spanish to English: TULIO MONTALBAN AND JULIO MACEDO by Miguel de Unamuno General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Translation - English What a life, that of Don Juan Manuel Solorzano and his daughter Elvira, on that island -- a rocky islet rather -- lost in a corner of the ocean. "To know everything there is to know about ‘isolation,’" Don Juan Manuel often said, “you have to live on an island like this one.” You have to live, huh? Have to? More than isolation, this was extreme isolation. And if Mr. Solórzano put such an emphasis on the "have to,” it was because he felt his short heritage made him rooted in it, leaving him as the only one to take care of it.
