Native Indonesian; born, live and work in Indonesia. I went to English Department for Teacher Training and from there starting my early career as an English Instructor whilst in the same time also doing volunteering and part-time work as a translator and interpreter. And that was around year 2006, making me accumulating over 11 years of experience now in translation industry. Starting 2014, I took a career shift, leaving all full time jobs as English Instructor and starting a full time career as a professional English<>Indonesian translator.
I work mainly with formal and nontechnical-scientific-engineering-medical documents: (1) NGO and company training manuals and (annual) reports, program consultants' assessments, and research reports - with issues covering community development and empowerment, indigenous community, human rights, social justice, and alike; (2) legal/contract - covering certificates, client-company agreement, consultancy agreement, privacy policy, company compliance, etc., where I had the opportunities to work on documents of some prominent multinational companies (bound by NDA); and also (3) localization of websites and products.
Other fields of translation where I feel I have the necessary skill and working knowledge, yet lack of some exposure to such materials are: literary, (social) science, and business. I am ready for and look forward to these new and interesting fields of work.
My approach to a text is always personal where I actually "listen to" words and sentences used in text/document, pick up their nuances and tone, and will go the extra mile to transfer, re-phrase/re-create, refine, and smooth out every single expression so they will be professionally and culturally acceptable and eligible, as well as grammatically accurate and correct, in Bahasa Indonesia.
