Spanish term

de Pasto nada

Spanish to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
This is the title of a work by a Venezuelan artist (produced in 1991):

Plegadura frontal II de Pasto nada

Plegadura is a format/series that the artist invented, so that part need not be translated. What I can't figure out is "Pasto nada". Is it part of an expression?
Many thanks

Leave it in Spanish perhaps with a translation in brackets. I found this: "XXXX carried out his first solo exhibition at the CSS, titled Pasto Nada (Nothing Grass). The exhibition consisted of pieces of cloth covered in cement which in turn covered the entire floor." transmag.org/nuevo_transmag/contents/vols.php?

Thanks, but how would you translate the name of that exhibition?

Nothing Fodder [Pasto nada] / I graze on nothing [Pasto nada]

I found another translation for the title of this piece here:

Nothing Fodder (Pasto nada). ... RG Hall, 1991;

The example of its use as "fodder" in the Oxford here also makes me think it could be a play on words, perhaps meaning something along the lines of "nothing to see here".

fodder | AmE ˈfɑdər, BrE ˈfɒdə |
forraje masculino
pienso masculino
it's fodder for the critics
es pasto para los críticos

Alternatively, and given the subject matter described by Patinba in the discussion above, it might also be read as a verb, i.e., "[yo] pasto nada" > "I graze [on] nothing"

Thanks, Muriel.
agree philgoddard : I would give an English translation, as its meaning isn't obvious.

Thanks, Phil. Yes, I think an attempt is necessary. Not sure which one I'd use though.

Thanks, maybe, or just "no grass"?

zero pasture

Смотреть что такое "zero pasture" в других словарях: zero pasture — zero pasture, a technique of feeding green forage to livestock...

Admittedly, I just made this up, but I think it works as a snappy title for the artwork described.
Example sentence:

Zero pasture (grazing) See soiling crop....

no grass at all

I don't know the artist, but the expression "de XXXXX nada" is very common in Venezuela, and means "no xxxx at all".

Matches the idea of "pieces of cloth covered in cement which in turn covered the entire floor". In other words, it's all concrete/cement. No grass at all.

agree neilmac : Like a friend of mine, who recently had his "herb garden" raided... :)
