calage des média

French to English Social Sciences Media / Multimedia Dealing with the media
The document I am translating deals with a drill to test the coordination and efficiency of the various actions planned to deal with a nuclear emergency.

One of the sections deals specifically with communication.
The simulation exercise has a number of objectives, such as testing the organisation of the communication services of the various bodies, testing their responsiveness, and testing the coordination between them.
For the latter point, examples are given: "partage de l'information et calage des médias".

I understand that the various bodies involved in dealing with the emergency need to share information and "sing from the same hymn sheet". Is that is what is meant by "calage des médias"? Any suggestions for translation?

Thanks for all useful input!

coordination Thanks, Emma. I've already got "coordination" all over the place, so I might borrow your explanation "make sure all channels are in line with each other". Further brainwaves still welcome though ;-)
Emma Paulay Dec 13, 2012:
coordination Hi David. Yes, it means coordinate the various media, make sure all channels are in line with each other. I can't think of another way to say coordination at the moment but if I have a brainwave I'll let you know!

synchronisation of the (different) media

Wouldn't call it a 'brainwave', but hope it helps ;-)

Thanks - it did!

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Opted for this with a note to the customer who was supposed to be confirming... still waiting!"

baselining communication media

Synchronize participants acc. to the same baseline in terms of SW, HW, etc. That's what they do in exercises.
Note from asker:
Used "synchronize" (also suggested by JdM). To be honest, I'm not sure that SW/HW has anything to do with my context though...
