A customer has asked me to send back uncleaned files (translated in Trados 2007). I don't have much experience working with 2007 version. I guess it's about the hidden text in the target documents. After sending translated files I got the info from the customer that they did NOT have the uncleaned status. How do I make them "uncleaned"?

Thanks in advance!

File format? Jan 5, 2011

If Word, did you use any "cleanup" functions? If not, it iis just necessary to show hidden text in the files. If you cleaned the files up, look for files with *.bak as name in the folder where the files were and provide those to the customer - these are the "uncleaned" files.

Just create two folders "Uncleaned" and "Cleaned". Locate the original (translated) file in the "Uncleaned" folder, then copy it into "Cleaned" folder and clean up the copied file by selecting it from Tools > Clean up > Add from Trados Translator's Workbench. Then you will have both uncleaned and cleaned files. You may delete .bak file if not needed anymore.

no success Jan 7, 2011

No, I did not Clean up the files in Workbench. I was translating in TagEditor. When I finished I clicked Save Target as and all i get is cleaned file. Am I doing something not right?

ttx is bilingual Jan 7, 2011

No problem.
You have delivered the clean file. Now send the ttx itself. That is the uncleaned or bilingual version.

Thanks Jan 7, 2011

That is a solution but is there a way to get an uncleaned file in the original format from Tag Editor?

what is the original file? Jan 7, 2011

If the original file is a Word doc, and the client wants an uncleaned word doc, then this should have been agreed before you started the job.
You could open the original file in Word and translate using Workbench and your TM. You won't get 100% perfect matches because segmentation differs, but it may be ok.

If the original file isn't Word then it is impossible to get a bilingual version in another format, AFAIK.
