Would you recommend a certain tool for translation of ppt? I got Wordfast Pro, Sdlx, Trados 2007 and Studio.
The file looks usual, not messy, but I'm not very used to ppt.

Regards
Heinrich

OmegaT can do the PPT file if you convert it to either ODP or PPTX. However (and I suspect this would apply to the other tools as well) you'd have to manually fix any formatting errors afterwards, e.g. segments that are longer in the target than in the source, etc.

Studio Mar 28, 2011

I have recently tried Studio, and it worked very well.

Studio, too Mar 28, 2011

Same here. The only thing - some places were not recognized by Studio and I had to do them manually (probably because of up-to-down text direction in some tables). And my target language was way longer than the source, so I had to fix some text boxes and similar stuff. Other than that everything worked very fine.

Studio Mar 28, 2011

I have no experience of Wordfast or SDLX but Studio is a big improvement on TagEditor for .ppt(x) files.

Samuel's point is a good one. Studio lets you preview the translation if you have PowerPoint installed, or you could keep an eye on the source text slides on another screen while you are working, but you'll probably still have to make some adjustments to the translated text in PowerPoint.

Wordfast Pro May 13, 2011

I've translated a few ppts in Wordfast Pro with no glitches. Was a while ago though...

Across May 13, 2011

I translate ppt with Across all the time, no glitches, nothing left out, sometimes even what you cannot see on file is pulled into Across. No problems found returning to original format.

Some possibilities May 13, 2011

Heartsome - Swordfish - Wordfast Pro - OmegaT.

I cannot recommend neither the "old Trados", nor Wordfast Classic because some parts of the PowerPoint file were left out although they had been translated.
