Spanish to English: Agreement between CECA and Raiffeisen International
Translation - English The Spanish Confederation of Savings Banks (Confederación Española de Cajas de Ahorros-CECA) and Raiffeisen International Holding AG have signed a cooperation agreement, which will allow Raiffeisen International to provide financial services, not only in Austria, but also to Spanish companies that are already clients of the Savings Banks, in eighteen Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries. Raiffeisen International is part of the Austrian group RZB. It is the largest banking group in the CEE and has more than 2,700 branches and 10 million customers.
The agreement forms part of the Internationalisation Plan put in place by CECA in April 1998. It complements other agreements which have already been signed with firms in Germany, France, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom and Latin America.
Under this agreement, Raiffeisen International is able to provide a wide range of financial products and services to the Savings Banks’ customers in each of the eighteen countries of the CEE. These products and services will be made available through its banking and other financial subsidiaries (companies which specialise in leasing, insurance, project finance and mergers and acquisitions etc). By having a personalised approach and a business structure in each of these countries, Raiffeisen International is able to offer high value-added banking services in one of the regions of the world which is of greatest interest to Spanish companies. These services include: short and long-term finance for business projects in those countries; assistance with foreign trade transactions; the procurement of status reports; assistance with setting up subsidiaries and acquiring companies; opening export accounts; transferring payments to beneficiaries in CEE countries; procedures for commercial orders; the issuance of local guarantees and the handling of documentary credits.
The advantage of this framework agreement for the Savings Banks is a personalised service for their clients, through a single partner, in the eighteen countries of the CEE, as well as in Austria. This enables the Savings Banks to offer their partner’s products and services to their business customers and to be more in touch with the international economic and business climate.
Under the terms of the agreement, assistance will be offered to customers that are in markets of economic interest to the Savings Banks. It adds to the agreements which CECA has already signed with Citibank in Latin America, with other networks of Savings Banks in European countries and with leading international organisations, such as Lloyds Bank, in the United Kingdom. In summary, CECA conducts business in 44 countries through a network of 35,000 branches. CECA’s ultimate objective is to attain worldwide coverage, but at the same time, to always give priority to markets which the Savings Banks consider to be commercially strategic.
I have a First Class BSc (Hons) degree in European Business Management and Spanish and have used my translation skills in several firms I have worked for since 1991 (both in London and Madrid).
I am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists and have passed the Diploma in Translation (Spanish to English), having sat the General, Business and Social Science papers. I am also a Member of the Institute of Translation & Interpreting (ITI) and completed the ITI's 2009 Orientation Course and 2012 Professional Support Group Course.
I currently combine my passion for Spanish with my interest and experience in the areas of finance, business, insurance, banking and management, although I also undertake translations in other fields including law, education, engineering and music. I have completed two financial translations for The London School of Economics.
I used my Spanish for many years working for a financial research/software company in London which specialised in Capital Markets. My most recent role at this firm was as Global Loans Research Manager, where accuracy and an eye for detail were an essential part of my job. Prior to this I worked for a Mexican bank in the City for two years and I also carried out temporary assignments for a Chilean mining firm.
Whilst in Spain I worked for an import and export firm and a computer services company in Madrid. In the latter I carried out translations for the HR Department and the Legal Department. My dissertation for my degree, which had to be translated into Spanish, was on Career Development. I also worked for an independent financial adviser and passed my Certificate in Financial Administration through the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), which has given me a broader knowledge of the financial services industry.
In addition to translation, I tutor both individuals and groups privately in Spanish. I have taught adult evening classes at various levels at St Albans Girls' School.
I also teach piano to adults and children and have entered many of my students for ABRSM exams.
