Bio

I am practical,
responsible, organized, diligent, resourceful and quick.

"A translator
ought to endeavor not only to say what his author has said, but to say it as he
has said it."
John Conington

In 2008 I graduated in
the university.  I have a licentiate
degree in English and Portuguese. It’s been 7 years since I became a certified
translator. In May 2011, I took legal oath in the Judicial Court in Maputo,
Mozambique. I possess good knowledge in legal, bio-environmental and medical
fields, excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

I have worked in
different areas for 14 years. Before becoming a translator, I worked as a
catering assistant, kitchen assistant, an English tutor, a primary school
teacher, an administrative assistant, a language teacher, a university teaching
assistant and as a medical practice manager.

Currently, I am a
full-time certified translator. I have translated, edited, transcribed and
proofread many types of documents, such as: certificates, diplomas, licenses,
researches, contracts, bylaws, reports, folders, curriculum vitae, slide
presentations, articles, literary texts, technical documents, short stories,
brochures, newsletters, recipes, menus among others. These jobs were done for
international and local companies/clients such as:

International: Gender
Links, Save the Children, USAID, Barclays, Actuarial Society of South Africa,
Global Alliance, Putco - Public Utility Transport Corporation, Coca-Cola SABCO,
Ocean Revolution, NeoLife, Global Alliance, Global Programs/UCSF, Language
Solutions Inc., IntoProfessional; and

Local: Gazeda –

Films,  Mozal, Magma Photography Studio, Rádio de Moçambique, Lenmed
Health, Maputo Private Hospital,  Barclays
Mocambique, Mcel, WWF Mocambique;

In May/June 2002 and then
in July/August 2005, I worked first time as a translator-interpreter
voluntarily in the Port of Maputo for MV Doulos, the world’s largest library ship
with the crew and staff, who came to Maputo to help surrounding vulnerable
communities. I joined in the crew and staff in Maputo distributing medical,
clothing or food supplies; visiting schools, hospitals and orphanages; donating
books and booklets; speaking to individuals or crowds; sharing about their
cultures and proving relief to needy people. Among the crew and staff, there
were deck or engineering officers, plumbers, seamen, carpenters, welders and
electricians, teachers, doctors, nurses, cook assistants and chefs. Since 2005 I
have worked as an interpreter in meetings, and as a translator in the office.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I hold a Licentiate’s Degree in Languages English/Portuguese. While I was at the University, I got involved in a
student movement that came together to take community development action,
finding solutions to common concerns and global issues within communities and
alleviating suffering. I also played music and performed in free exhibition of
theater plays, I had an intercultural educational experience in a global
movement, in Pretoria and Cape Town, South Africa); took part training programs
on community development, did interpretation services in film projects to
districts in Mozambique in students and professionals conferences in Kabarak
