Bosnian to English: The role and significance of homework in elementary school education General field: Social Sciences Detailed field: Mathematics & Statistics
Translation - English The very conceptions regarding the need for doing homework, manner of reviewing it, as well as the question whether homework should be included while forming the final grade, vary. Today, there is the dilemma about what the child needs, what volume of knowledge, and how much, as well as what, to ask from the child in return, in the form of feedback, which will be done individually at home.
Due to this vagueness, there are variations with many teachers, and the question is posed: What is homework, how to assign tasks, what to give for homework, how much to assign, and is homework even necessary? Homework is the student's activity which derives from everyday schoolwork obligations, but is performed outside of schoolwork. It is also possible to provide an answer to the question how to assign tasks. First and foremost, most of the tasks prepared for student's individual work should be textual in nature and contain information from the student's immediate surroundings. The teacher's obligation is to analyze every task with students and provide instructions for work, and precisely that ensures success in teaching. The question what to give for homework is not difficult to answer, if one bears in mind that everything that was the subject of discussion during previous classes, should also be the subject of individual work. The best policy is to assign tasks which encompass more teaching units.
Bosnian to English: SPECIFIC THERAPEUTIC METHODS IN LUMBAR FACET SYNDROME TREATMENT General field: Medical Detailed field: Medical: Health Care
Source text - Bosnian Specifične terapeutske metode predstavlja vid komplementarne medicine i liječenja bez lijekova i
operacija.
Translation - English Specific therapeutic methods represent a type of complementary medicine and treatment without
medication and surgery. It is a diagnostic and therapeutic approach which is almost completely
unknown in our health system. Specific therapeutic methods are conducted through holistic
approach. The cause of medical condition will be more important than symptoms, so that the
patient will be treated in entirety (physically, emotionally, psychologically, spiritually), and not
only their illness. This is a manual technique, so the problem is explored manually –
therapist/osteopath will employ palpation skills to ascertain the location of tension and blockade
in the tissue, which cause pain and discomfort. After that, various techniques are used to free the
tissue from tension, improve blood flow, decrease pain, improve mobility, general wellbeing, and
finally “starts up” the self-healing system.

Bio
I am a 35-year-old MA in Anglo-American Literature and Culture, which I acquired at the University of Tuzla, Department of English language and literature. Currently I am working on my PhD thesis in Anglo-American Culture studies. I have been translating for 12 years now, for different companies, as well as private persons. I am proficient in translating texts from English to Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian and vice versa, in various areas of expertise (medicine, technology, linguistics, philosophy, sociology, mathematics, literature...) since many of my employers are professors at the University and need translated texts from their respective fields of study.
