Translation - English “Sudden exchange rate fluctuations have an adverse effect on the financial market, and we will work towards its’ stability,” says Finance Minister Aso
[ Hangzhou, China / Tokyo, 4th September (Reuters) ] - On the 4th of September, Finance Minister Taro Aso announced what he spoke about at the finance ministers’ meeting held ahead of the G20 summit. It was revealed that he stated, “It is of the utmost importance that we work towards stabilising the financial exchange market.” Additionally, all attendees were in agreement with the statement that excessive fluctuations in exchange rates can have a negative effect on a country’s economy and financial state.
Considering the risks posed by Brexit, Aso pointed out that “the understanding among the nations attending the G20 summit is that the uncertainty surrounding the global economy is increasing.”
Aso also met individually with the US Treasury Secretary Jack Lew. He said that, at the meeting, they shared extensive opinions and ideas about the current trends in the financial market and global economy. However, he avoided stating whether any discussion regarding exchange rates took place.
He explained to each nation that the economic measures compiled by the government in August will lead to an improvement in potential growth ability.
