I thought Powwow should be held this weekend? | Sep 26, 2007 |
"I'd like to invite you to sign up for any of the powwows to be
held in China on September 29 as part of the world celebration of
Translator's Day "
I have no problem with 6th. Oct, but I believe it's better to have the activity at this weekend as it would match the spirit of Powwow: celebrating together. So if some people have to work that day, we can have it in the evening.

I don't think "the morning of 6th. Oct. 2007" will be a good timing. Maybe some of us are still on travel or on the way back home. This coming saturday will be ok, since most of us is still in Shanghai. Of course, it needs to be scheduled in the evevning, say, from 7:00 pm.
How about this, guys?
I would like to lend favor in case of need in organizing this event.

it will be great if participants can be pre-informed about the contents of coming activities and how we will make use of the time together.

What's Powwow | Sep 26, 2007 |
Powwows provide an opportunity for networking and informal socializing among language professionals--a chance to meet the people behind the profiles.
Our agenda:
1.Attendees will have an opportunity to introduce themselves and make announcements.
2. We may select theme from the followings: 'CAT tools', 'Free-lancing' or others (any suggestions are welcome).
The tone of this meeting is informative rather than commercial.

Doroto Local time: 04:02 English to Chinese + ... specialization, business development | Sep 26, 2007 |
"The tone of this meeting is informative rather than commercial",
I think the above does not preclude discussion about how to develop and maintian clients and how to deal with tricky people.
Also, I want to know more about the life of other translator, their bitterness and sweetness, whether working as a freelancer or for a company.
Hope that day, I won't have to work over time.

People going for the powwow may specifiy the areas of their translation strenghs, and each leave their emails.
To facilitate Shirley's arrangement, we'd better give a message to her on, say Friday, or Sat morning further confirming our presence.
I will see you all then, maybe we can have other activities afterwards, I mean, for example, I really eat a lot and I do not think that place could fill my stomach
recommended place | Sep 26, 2007 |

Doroto Local time: 04:02 English to Chinese + ... why change place? | Sep 26, 2007 |
As Hengshan road may be too expensive, Xinzhuang may be a little far from the downtown area.
Shirley, how abt finding a UBC (the one you mentioned next below) in the downtown area? If not easy, you have the final say.
