Hello everybody,

I am starting to use the SDL Trados Studio 2009 version and I am still a little bit lost. My customer asked my for the final document to be delivered in its bilingual version. However, I can't manage to find how to save the translation into such format. I only manage to save the target or the source texts separately. Can you help me?

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem. What I do now is open the file they give me in Trados 2007 and save it as a bilingual file in Tag Editor (Trados 2007 is supplied with Studio 2009). This produces a ttx. I had never used Trados but it's quite easy.
Then I import the bilingual ttx file into my Studio Project, or just open it in directly in Studio.
When I have finished translating, you can then just export a bilingual or a clean version.
The only other alternative is to create a TMX export

The only other alternative is to create a TMX export of the TM and deliver that to the client.

Studio saves a bilingual sdlxliff file when you finalise your project. You can send this one to your customer.

Just one more thing.... if a customer is asking for a bilingual file, in my case (and I believe in general) it's because they don't have Studio 2009 and have a previous version of Trados. In this case, an sdlxliff file would be of no use to them.
