| The winning entry has been announced in this pair. There were 8 entries submitted in this pair during the submission phase. Competition in this pair is now closed. | You will survive. You will again feel the sheets brush your skin and will know you have survived, despite time and movement curtailing your destiny at every turn. Between paralysis and wild abandon lies life’s line. Adventure. You will imagine the greatest security, never moving. You will imagine yourself motionless. The guardian of danger, chance and uncertainty. Your stillness will not stop time passing without you, although you invent and measure it. It will not stop time denying your immobility and put you at your own risk of extinction. Adventurer, you will measure your speed against time’s own.
The time you invent to survive, to feign the illusion of a greater permanence on earth. The time your brain creates, endeavouring to perceive this alternation of light and shadow within part of a dream. Trying to hold onto these images of calm that are threatened by the gathering storm clouds. The promise of thunder. The delayed thunderbolt. The heavy downpour. The inevitable rainbow. By dint of listening to the seasonal cries of animals on the mountain; by calling out the signs of time itself; the howling of wartime, the howling of mourning, the howling of party-time. By trying to say time, to talk time, to think about the inexistent time of a universe that does not know you because it never began and will never end. It has no beginning and will have no end. It does not know that you will invent a measurement of infinity, a reserve of reason.
You will invent and measure a time that does not exist. You will know, you will distinguish, you will judge, calculate, imagine, prevent. You will end up thinking something that has no reality other than the one inside your own head. You will learn to control your violence in order to control that of your enemies. | Entry #620

| The sheets will again kiss your body and you will know you have survived. Yes, you will survive, despite the clock's movement that at each instant shortens your fate. Somewhere between paralysis and lack of restraint is where the line of life lays, the adventure. You will imagine greater security, never moving, imagining yourself immobile, protected from danger, from misfortune, from uncertainty. Your stillness cannot stop Time, which runs relentless although it was your invention, yours to measure. It ignores your immobility, and you give in to the possibility of Time's own extinction. Adventurous you will be, measuring your own velocity with that of Time.
You will invent Time so that you may survive, pretending an illusion of a longer continuation on earth. Your mind's begotten Time establishes the means to perceive that certain alternation of light and darkness in a quadrant of your dream. By means of retaining those images of calmness, threatened by the cumulous concentration of black clouds, the announcement of thunder, the posterity of lightning, the discharge of a torrential downpour, the certain appearance of the rainbow; by means of listening to the rhythmic calls from the animals on the mount; by means of shouting the signs of the times; the howling from time of war; the howling from time of mourning; the howling from time of rejoicing. By means, at last, of giving Time a name, speaking of it, of contemplating the nonexistent Time in a universe that knows no Time, unknowable because it has neither beginning nor end. Time never began. Never will it finish. Nor will it know that you invent it as infinity's measure, your purpose undisclosed.
You will invent and measure a Time that does not exist. You will know it and discern the unique identity of your invention. You will judge it and calculate it. You will imagine it and protect yourself from it. You will finish by contemplating there will be no other reality except the creation of your mind. You will learn to master your forces in order to master those of your enemies.

| You will survive: you will graze the sheets and know you have survived, in spite of the time and movement that shorten your fortune at every instant: between paralysis and frenzy lies the line of life: adventure: you will imagine the greatest security, never to move: motionless, you will imagine yourself still, safe from danger, from chance, from uncertainty: your stillness will not stop the time that runs without you, even if you invent and measure it, the time that negates your immobility and subjects you to its own danger of extinction: adventurer, you will measure your speed against the speed of time:
the time you will invent to survive, to feign the illusion of a longer stay on earth: the time your brain will create by force of perceiving the interchange of light and darkness in the quadrant of sleep; by force of retaining those images of placidity, threatened by the dense and black cumuli of the clouds, the announcement of thunder, the posterity of lightning, the turbulent discharge of rain, the unerring appearance of the rainbow; by force of listening to the cyclic call of animals in the mountains; by force of shouting the signs of time: the howling of times of war, the howling of times of mourning, the howling of times of feast; in short, by force of saying time, talking time, thinking about the non-existent time of a universe that does not know time because it never started and will never end: it had no beginning, it will have no end, and does not know that you will invent a way of measuring the infinite, a reserve of reason:
you will invent and measure a non-existent time, you will know, discern,
judge, calculate, imagine, foresee, you will end up thinking about a reality with no other realness than the one created by your brain, you will learn to control your own violence to control the violence of your enemies.

| You will survive. Once again, you will graze the sheets and know that you have survived, in spite of the time and the movement that shorten your fortune. Between paralysis and wild abandon, there is the line of life. The adventure. You will imagine that it is safer to never move. You will imagine yourself motionless, safe and away from danger, from fate, and from uncertainty. Your stillness will not stop time, as it flows without you, even if you invent it and measure it, as time denies your stillness and subdues you to its own extinction danger.
You, adventurer, will compare your speed to that of time, the time that you will invent to be able to survive, to pretend that there is the illusion of a greater and an uninterrupted stay on earth; the time that your brain will create by perceiving that fluctuation between light and darkness during sleep; by hanging on to those images of the calmness threatened by concentrated and black cloud clusters, thunder warnings, subsequent lightning flashes, the charged rainfall, the certain appearance of a rainbow; by listening to cyclical calls of mountain animals; by shouting the signs of time, the howling of war time, the howling of mourning time, the howling of party time; by, finally, saying time, talking about time, thinking about the inexistent time of universe, since it never knew time as it has no beginning and will never end. Time did not have a beginning and will not have an end. Time does not know that you will invent a measurement for the infinite, a reserve for reason.
You will invent and measure a time that does not exist. You will know, perceive, estimate, imagine, prevent, and, finally, think about something that does not have any other reality than the one created by your brain. You will learn how to control your violence in order to control your enemies’ violence. | Entry #624

| You shall live on: once more you will brush the sheets, and you shall know that you have survived, in spite of the time and the motion that hem in your fate at every moment; between paralysis and indulgence lies the line of life: adventure; you will think of an increased certainty, never to move: you will dream of yourself motionless, immune to danger, fate or uncertainty: your stillness will not hold back the time that continues forward without you, even had you invented it and measured it out; it will not hold back the time that refutes your permanence and makes you subject to the danger of its own extinguishing: as an adventurous soul, you will set your pace at the rhythm of time:
the time you will invent in order to survive, to feign a more lasting earthly existence: the time your brain will create from the perceived play between light and shadows in the land of dreams; from the memories of calmness threatened by mountains of black and heavy clouds, the approaching thunder, the fleeting sunbeams, the furious downpour, the certain appearing of the rainbow; from the repeated calls of the animals in the hills; from the cries of the signs of the times: the howls of wartime, the howls of mourning, the howls of celebration; finally, from the words of time, from the discourse of time, from the thought of nonexistent time in a universe that is unaware of it because it never began and will never end: neither beginning nor end does it have, nor does it know that you will invent a measurement of the infinite, a reserve of reason:
you will invent and measure out a time that does not exist, you will know, determine, judge, calculate, imagine, provide, and end up thinking what will not be real except in your brain, you will learn to control your violence by controlling that of your enemies. | Entry #598
