Once it’s dry and sunny again, grab a tape measure and head for the garage. Lift one of the wiper arms (it’s usually easier to grab the driver’s-side arm) off the windshield against its spring tension and keep lifting until the pivot point locks the arm upright. Look for contaminated rubber inserts, which can be caused by road film or car-wash chemical adhesion. Inspect the wiping edges for “park set rubber,” the term used to describe hardened finely-cracked inserts that have been exposed to the sun too long in a parked position. This will cause chattering and skipping. Check for a rubber insert that has been partially torn away from its metal support. It will slap the windshield with each wiping pass.

В сухую и солнечную погоду захватите рулетку и направьтесь в гараж. Поднимите рычаг одного из стеклоочистителей (это легче сделать с тем, что со стороны водителя) с ветрового стекла против натяжения пружины и продолжайте поднимать, пока точка вращения не защелкнет рычаг в вертикальном положении.
Посмотрите, есть ли участки загрязненной резины, причиной которых могла стать пыль на дороге или остатки химических веществ при автомойке. Проверьте края на наличие так называемой «стояночной резины», термин, используемый для обозначения затвердевших участков с мелкими трещинами, возникшими вследствие длительного воздействия солнечных лучей на стеклоочистители в нерабочем состоянии. Это станет причиной их вибрирования и скачков. Проверьте, нет ли участков резины, отошедших от металлической ручки. Она будет биться об лобовое стекло при каждом движении.
