Source text - English By 1933, 30% of the labour force was out of work, and one fifth of the population became dependent on governmental assistance. Wages fell as did prices. Worst hit were areas dependent on primary industries such as farming, mining and logging, as prices fell and there were few alternative jobs.
Translation - German Bis 1933 waren 30 % der Erwerbsbevölkerung arbeitslos und ein Fünftel der Bevölkerung war auf staatliche Unterstützung angewiesen. Die Löhne sanken ebenso wie die Preise. Am stärksten betroffen waren Gebiete, die von Primärindustrien wie Landwirtschaft, Bergbau und Holzeinschlag abhängig waren, da die Preise sanken und es nur wenige alternative Arbeitsplätze gab.
