Bio:I'm Italian and I lived in Spain my last 5 years. I'd like to become a translator because I like it, I enjoy it and I know very well my mother tongue and Spanish. I can translate from English and Catalan into Spanish and Italian. I work as a Spanish and Italian teacher,... but not full-time, so I'm looking for a job that I can do when I want.
Bio: I am a qualified Spanish and Portuguese interpreter and translator, gaining an MA (dist) in Translation and Interpreting (ESP-ENG) and my first degree, BA Hons in Hispanic Studies 2:1 with distinction in spoken Portuguese. I have been working as an interpreter/translat...or since June last year, although I did have experience previous to this in the field.
The majority of my interpreting experience so far has come from public service interpreting, particularly in the medical and social services fields, but also with some prison and probation work. However, I have just returned from a three month volunteer project in the rural Sertao of Pernambuco, where I was working as team leader and ad-hoc interpreter, living in a rural agricultural community. I learnt a lot about sustainable agriculture, Brazilian agricultural and social policies, and would love to be able to incorporate this new knowledge into my work, along with my knowledge of renewable energies. I am very interested in developing this technical knowledge and would like to apply it to an industry setting if at all possible. I also recently interpreted in seminars and a welcome lunch held to pave the way for Rio 2016, looking at different markets available in the city to encourage foreign investment.
