Differences between Interpreter Oath and Voire Dire

Dear colleagues,

I would like to know what is the difference between Interpreter oaths and Voire Dire for interpreters used in Lawyer depositions.

I really appreciate your help on this.

They are not similar at all, confusion is unlikely. Briefly, in the USA, an interpreter oath would merely be when an interpreter formally swears to to a proper job. On the other hand, though it has other meanings also, "voir dire" (spelling) in general refers to the process of questioning prospective jurors within the jury selection process.

is when the judge, prosecution or attorneys ask about the interpreter's qualification.

I had the curiosity to check your CV. How come that with such an extensive and impressive experience in the field, working for years for top legal firms, you ask us about the difference between the oath and voir dire ?

I know the differences but we call "Voire Dire in a different way in my country.
