Hi everyone!
Would simultaneous subtitiling fall into the range of subtitling or interpreting?...
I'd say interpreting.
Does anyone here have any experience with this?
The setting in which I'm being asked to help (not with the subtitiling itself, but with the organisation) is a symposium with English and French speakers, and their conversation would be streamed on YouTube. English-speaking and French-speaking interpreters would be typing/translating live. ... See more

Typing interpretation live? Are these people trained? Sounds extremely cumbersome, unless they are super trained. It appears organizers opted for this option because it’s cheaper (they think it’s cheaper) and less technically demanding. Professional interpreter will charge the same for typed interpretation and maybe even more, and they will turn it down if they are not trained in “typed interpretation” (most of them are not, as it’s a completely different modality).
