I recently did a project online with MemoQ. Now I'm back in my default offline mode but I cannot set my regular TM as the primary. I tried creating a new one from scratch and even that one cannot be set as the primary or master. I noticed the names of the TMs in the list are now in italics, but they're stored locally. Any suggestions?

Translation memories appear in italics when they are not in the same language pair direction as the one in the active project. For example, if a TM is in English>Greek and your project is in Greek>English, the name of this TM will appear in italics in the list of TMs.
As for why you can't set a TM as primary, can you describe the exact steps that you are following?

What are the steps to change the language pair that is currently defined for the active project?

Angel, I think you would have to create a new project and indicate the source and target languages, as well as adding your TM(s) and termbase. Then you can import the documents into the new project and go from there.

Is it always a requisite to create a project even if it only contains 1 document ?

No, Angel. If I understand your situation correctly, you can import several documents or projects into the new project with the language pair direction that you want.
I use translator pro 9.1.9, which is different in some ways from the freelancer version. So maybe you might have a different solution for certain problems, but I hope my suggestions are helpful.
