Paypal between Russia and India

I need to transfer money from a Russian paypal account to an Indian paypal account. At the official paypal site it is said that transfers from and to India are impossible. I requested info from paypal support and they confirmed that it is really impossible to transfer money from a Russian paypal account to an Indian paypal account and vice versa. But my friends say that it is not true and they transfer money freely.

Paypal says it's impossible to do transfers to and from India at the moment, it does not matter which country the funds are coming from. I believe it's some legislation thing they are trying to sort out, all transfers sent to India were sent back.

Perhaps your friends are unaware of the recent change.

Paypal India is working now Jul 8, 2010

Paypal did have some problem with RBI in Feb this year. But that has been sorted out now and paypal is functioning fully in India.
