Sheila, you are absolutely right! That's what they were trying to do. I did send them the email outlining that it was their mistake not mine but it did not get me anywhere. Frankly, I think they are the most unreasonable, ruthless and immoral service providers I have come across in all my translating career! They could not argue with the customer, so they decided to argue with me instead! ▲ Collapse

Why there is extra cost of proofreading Feb 4, 2011

When a translation needs to be certified and notarized than the translator attaches an affidavit stating that the translation is correct and true to the meaning of the original, blah, blah, then goes to the notary and signs it in front of the notary.

If it is somebody else's translation, a prudent translator would proofread it before putting his/her name on it, and that's why there is a charge for that, even if the translation was OK. So, occurring a proofreading cost in this case d... See more

As to who should cover the expenses related to getting the document certified and notarized depends on what was in the contract.
