opening a docx.txt file Thread poster: katerina turevich

Hello out there,
I am having some problems opening a docx.txt document. Instead of text I get a message "FILE QUARANTINED
The original contents of this file have been replaced with
this message because of its characteristics.
File name: XXX
Malware name: 'Exceedingly compressed size'.
I work with Word 2003.
What should i do?

Hello Katerina,
Do you have installed the forefront security app?
Microsoft support write about the problem of archive too big and suggests a way to solve it.

Perhaps, indeed, I should have it for the future. For now, i just got back to my client with it. Turns out they had it on their website to download with just this double extension. So thanks, i had never seen anything like that before in my mail box, and it had me worried for a bit. It is fine,

After a brief search through the 'net, it seems that it could be a serious virus***, quarantined in the moment of your viewing the window with the said message. I would not be that careless, sorry, about this aspect.
Double extension in itself should not lead into any kind of problems of this kind.

For me, this is or was a virus, you should seriously examine your machine and possibly adopt some protective meausers.
