2008 was great but since the middle of November, I haven't work that much. It may be becauce of the economic crisis, maybe not, I don't know and will never know because I can't ask...
So, I have plenty of time to shop around for Christmas gifts and to take care of myself and my family...

By choice.
It's due tomorrow morning and I'm currently finishing the edition, but since it is longish (20K words) I turned down a job on Tuesday in order to check it thoroughly and calmly.
Greetings

it's been exceptionally quiet for me the last week or so. ...it has me a bit glum and nervous....right now I'm workingn on one small website project and should be receiving another small job.
I told all my regular suppliers that I am available through the holidays, just in case. I'm in the same boat as Josee...very quiet since about mid-late november. | | | Sara Senft United States Local time: 08:00 Spanish to English + ... No TRANSLATION projects, but.. | Dec 12, 2008 |

But I am already used to it. And I have to admit I enjoy working under pressure. | | | Same here :( | Dec 12, 2008 |

I belong to the group of "none". For last 2,5 months I was getting only a few jobs, each less then 1000 words. Old clients have little work for me, possible new clients say I'm too expencive, while a lot of translators here would undoubtedly tell me my rates are low.
I DO worry.
Anni | | | A glimmer of hope in the gloom... | Dec 12, 2008 |
I'm just starting out, and if the poll had been last week, I would have had to answer "none". At that point, I was really worried as to whether things would ever take off.
However, this week I've had several offers, to the point that I almost had to turn some down (I'm sure I'll get better at juggling as time goes on!). So things are picking up for me, and I hope it'll soon be the same for all those who have expressed concern. | | | 9 when I answered the poll | Dec 12, 2008 |
Also confirmed orders, I'm not actually working on them all. Since answering the poll, I've delivered one job and accepted another 4. I've got 2 deadlines today, 3 on Monday, 2 on Tuesday, 4 on Wednesday and 1 on Thursday. They range between revision of a couple of pages up to a 7500 word translation.
Fairly par for the course, for my business. | |
